Watching Gabby Eigenmann on TV makes me miss his dad, Ralph (aka Mark Gil), who was a good friend of mine. The plot thickens in Gabby’s riveting afternoon series on GMA 7, “Contessa.” His character Vito is back with a vengeance. Let the vendetta begin!
Here’s my chat with Gabby:
What’s your unsolicited advice to bachelors who are reluctant to get hitched? When you are not 100 percent sure, don’t take the plunge yet. It takes a lot of maturity and effort to make marriage work.
What’s something people don’t know about the Eigenmanns? What they see is what they get. Our family is full of drama, just like what they see on TV (laughs). But even if most of us play kontrabida roles, we’re the opposite in real life.
What’s the best and toughest part of married life? The best part is coming home to my family after a tiring day. They make all the sacrifices and hard work worthwhile. The toughest part is being away from my family due to work.
What movie of your dad would you want to do a remake of? “Itanong Mo sa Buwan”
If your dad were still alive, what would you want to ask him? Did I make you proud?
Kiefer getting ready for his comeback
Will the Philippine Basketball Association’s prized rookie, Kiefer Ravena, resume his thwarted show biz career now that he’s in hiatus from the professional league? The hardcourt heartthrob is definitely movie star material.
Kief’s reply via Viber goes, “For the meantime, I’m focused on staying in shape and getting ready for my comeback. I miss playing in the PBA and for Gilas. I’m also taking care of my business in Bacolod and the Phenom Elite Training Academy, a gym that I, Alyssa (Valdez) and our friends put up.”
After his 18-month suspension by Fiba, Kief will surely bounce back. He’s not the type of cager who will let controversies cage him up.

The troika of well-executed short films directed by Chris Cahilig and produced by McJim Classic Leather under its “Get Reel” online advocacy campaign, has been validated not only by millions of views on social media, but also by the acclaim they reap in international film competitions.
What are they about? “Pitaka” extols Filipino family values of sacrifice and perseverance. “Bag” examines the social realities facing the LGBT community. And “Sinturon,” starring Mercedes Cabral, tackles marital fidelity.
