As part of his coming Asian tour, three-time Grammy-winning hip-hop artist Chance the Rapper is set to hold a one-night concert on Aug. 22 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, according to local promoter MMI Live.
“I’m playing Asia for the first time, y’all!” the 25-year-old, independent musician wrote on Twitter.
A Chicago native, Chance, whose real name is Chancelor Jonathan Bennett, is behind such hits as “No Problem,” “All Night” and “Juke Jam.”
His third mixtape, “Coloring Book,” made history at the 2017 Grammy Awards for being the first streaming-only album to receive a nod and win an award from the said body.
“Coloring Book” was hailed best rap album, besting Kanye West’s “The Life of Pablo,” DJ Khaled’s “Major Key” and Drake’s “Views.”
Chance also bagged the best new artist and best rap performance trophies that year.—ALLAN POLICARPIO
