WATCH: Paul McCartney, James Corden drive around Liverpool, sing Beatles hits in ‘Carpool Karaoke’

James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke” may have had its best yet, thanks to a very special guest—Paul McCartney.

The late-night show host and the legendary singer teamed up in a special edition of “The Late Late Show” segment aired Thursday night.

Corden called in McCartney as he started to take a drive to Liverpool, England—the singer’s hometown. As they drove around, they sang to Beatles hits and stopped over landmarks that fans have dreamed to visit.

One such stop was a barber shop mentioned in the song “Penny Lane.” Both surprised the owner, and she even had her photo taken with the superstar to be put on the wall.

They discussed the Beatles’ music, which Corden described as “full of positivity and joy and a message of love and togetherness.” The host stated: “I feel like it’s more important now today than it’s maybe ever been.”

To which McCartney admitted: “It’s one of the strangest things. We (The Beatles) expected it to last ten years, but it keeps going on, and on, and on. And it keeps being relevant.”

McCartney also told the story behind “Let It Be,” telling that his late mother once appeared to him in a dream saying the words. “She gave me the positive word. So I woke up and like ‘she’s saying let it be,” he said. “I’ve never heard that; it’s kinda good. So I wrote the song ‘Let It Be,’ but it’s her positivity.”

The two also took a trip down memory lane in McCartney’s childhood home. The singer told Corden stories about his bandmate, John Lennon, on how we would visit and they would write songs together.

Their last stop was a local pub, where he and his band once held a surprise show to patrons. He played hits such as “Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da,” “A Hard Day’s Night,” and finishing the set with “Hey Jude.”

McCartney is set to release his 17th studio album “Egypt Station,” some five years after 2013’s “New,” on Sept. 7.  /ra
