Kat Agarrado: In a different light
You only live once in this world. That fact of life rings so true for Kat Agarrado whom you might know more as the main artist behind the Pinoy Soul Movement which began in the early 2000’s.
Now, Kat Agarrado is ready to make a splash in an entirely different venture–and that is, in modelling.
And why ever not? Kat Agarrado is not only a celebrated artist in the local scene, she is also a natural head-turner. Modelling should come right up her alley. In fact, Kat Agarrado had been wanting to do this for some time already but it is only now that she has made up her mind and is ready to achieve this dream of hers without any hesitation this time.
Indeed, it is now or never for Kat Agarrado. The time is now! Life is not about regrets but of looking forward to more exciting challenges and adventures.
Now, here is my latest feature on Kat Agarrado. But this time, I will feature her in a different attire from what she is normally seen in when she’s onstage as a performing artist. In her very first time to do a swimsuit pictorial for her own curiosity and personal satisfaction, as well as for the experience of it, Kat Agarrado is sharing some of those photos in her portfolio. It will be the first time, likewise, she will have these photos appear in a major mainstream media outlet. Inquirer.net, it is.

***
1) Do you feel like you deserve more attention and support given that you are still one of the most musically gifted and physically attractive female artists around in the Philippines?
That is a resounding Yes.
2) Are there venues in the country where you wish you could perform but have not the chance to do so?
Metropolitan Museum.
3) Can you share with us a recent funny/unforgettable experience you had in one of your recent trips out of town?
I traveled to India last December.
Everywhere I went, people would stop me and take a photo, like non-stop. Even the ladies would ask me to have a photo with them and their children.
It’s so funny, I think people there think I’m a Bollywood actress! hahaha… Well, that’s what they would ask me, after every photo op they would request with me.
And the traffic and the way they drive there is nuts! I thought we have the worst in terms of traffic but man, India is something else!
4) What is it with hip-hop and soul–soul being the genre you are best known for–that when it comes to your own musical style, the two genres work so well together?
I’m also known as a rock chick, but my music is more on soul jazz funk with a rock attitude, I guess.
I think hip-hop and soul are like sisters. They are not really too far from each other. And I believe you can do anything you put your mind and heart into.
5) Obviously, you are proud of your physical appearance, and rightfully so, have you received any offers to appear in some magazines?
I’m just trying to challenge my self more nowadays to be bolder and braver and get out of my comfort zone. Just for fun and for my own pleasure.
I have been asked by Playboy, FHM, UNO and Maxim before to do their centerfold but I thought then the time was not right yet. I felt my music should come first. Or perhaps, it’s because I am really quite conservative and I’d rather let the music make me look sexy!
I’m not perfect; I have a lot of things to work on when it comes to my body, my health and nutrition. But now that I have been posting these photos in my artist page, I am more motivated to be this person that I want to be. I want to be fit and be my best self at this point of my life.
6) Has there ever been a time that you wanted to become an actress, or to try your luck in showbiz?
My mom actually encouraged me to be an artista. When I was younger, she would bring me to auditions and I would pass every audition. I was even with AngTV and Eat Bulaga before.
In fact, I did commercials. I’ve had some movie and TV stints. I also got accepted in Star Circle Batch 6, I think it was, but I had to choose between that or be with Passage (my former band). I chose to be with the band. I chose this path. I chose music and my mom was so pissed. But I’m pretty happy with my choice.
But you know what? What I need right now is a kick-ass manager who will share the same passion–who would be inspired and excited with my ideas, help me realize and bring this OPM dream to reality, and help bring this type of music to a wider audience – to a wider format – for the whole world to hear and experience.
7) Do you feel like you could be a commercial model? If so, what products do you want to endorse?
I used to do commercials on the side even before SinoSikat. (I did telecom, hair gel, mall, beverage, beauty soap, and more.)
Products… On top of my head, I would love to endorse a camera brand and GoPro because I travel a lot and I love to document stuff.
I’m a L’Oreal product user ever since. I believe I look young because of their skin care line so ya, I would be honored to endorse that. And
I love, love eye wear! Eye Society is on top of my list.
I’m open to anything, actually.
As long as it’s something that I believe in.
8) What is the title of your newest single? What does this song mean to you?
I don’t have a title yet. So, I’m calling it Song No. 2 for now. Well, that’s the file name.
This is inspired by Carlos Jesena’s beats and I asked Lustbass to produce it.
I am looking to release this by July 2018.
9) Any upcoming gigs and events you want to promote?
Yes! Catch this year’s Fete De La Music Festival! I will be playing at around 8 pm in Greenbelt Main stage for the first time with Lustbass. You can download their app “Fete PH” for the complete list of stages & performances. We will let you hear my unreleased tracks from my upcoming album that will be called ‘Pinay Soul’.
Then, I will play at The Funk Soul Blues stage in Heckle and Jeckle with Brasspaspaspaspas at 1:00 a.m.
I will also perform at Fete dela Musique in Baguio, June 30.
And Sinosikat will be in Dumaguete on August 25!
I also want to promote the Guns And Roses concert on November 11 at The Philippine Arena because I love GN’R so much!
I hope to see you all and please don’t be shy to say to approach me and, say “Hi!” to me.
