RK Bagatsing reveals he went through depression, credits brother Raymond for overcoming it
RK Bagatsing admitted that he went through depression after being rejected numerous times when he was just starting in show biz.
“At first, masakit eh. I can say na umabot ako sa depression (At first, I was hurt. I can say that it turned into depression),” Bagatsing made the revelation to talk show host Boy Abunda in a “Tonight with Boy Abunda” episode aired Thursday.
Despite having brother Raymond, already a well-respected actor in the industry, he felt that he was not “worth it” if he asked for his help to get into the business easily.
So Bagatsing tried his luck lining up for auditions, hoping to finally break in. He revealed that he gave himself a time frame of two years to try his luck.
Bagatsing expressed: “Eh yung within two years ko, ang dami kong rejections ((Within those two years I had a lot of rejections). Like in a week, I’ll go to hundreds of auditions, commercials, movies and naging numb na ako eh (and I felt numb).”

He credited Raymond for helping him out the most to get out of the phase. “A lot of times. I think I owe it to him the most kaya ako nandito (That’s why I’m here). Siya din kasi yung tumayong pangalawa kong daddy (He also stands as my second daddy).”
“Ang dami niya sa aking binibigay na perspective (He gives me a lot of perspective); and looking back, I’m so lucky kasi I was able to open up my mind sa mga ganung anggulo. (because I was able to open up my mind on that angle),” he added about his brother. “I’m just really thankful nandun siya nung time na ‘yun (I’m just really thankful he was there during that time).”
After enduring all the hardships and getting where he is now, he shared the lesson from Raymond about being an actor and as a person: “Believe in yourself.” Katrina Hallare /ra
