Kiko Estrada says it’s a ‘positive experience’ working with mom, Chesca Diaz
“Of course, I’m pressured to be working with her.”
This was what Kapuso actor Kiko Estrada said when asked how it feels to work with his real life mom, Chesca Diaz, in his upcoming film “Walwal.”
However, unlike most kids who feel pressured to work with their parents, the hunky young star views the experience as positive.
“It’s so funny others think of pressure on the negative side, I believe that we have to be pressured to be great. I don’t like being good, I like to be great at something,” he told a few members of the entertainment press who visited the set of ‘Walwal” on its last day of shooting on Tuesday.
Although he didn’t like acting at first, growing up, he said he was heavily influenced by his mom who exposed him to the works of notable names in the movie industry and prodded him to watch the performances of actors like Johnny Depp, Marlon Brando, James Dean, among others.

But when my Lolo Pacquito passed away he told me, ikaw ‘yung papalit sakin (you will replace me). I told him hindi pwedeng mangyari yun kasi nag-iisa ka lang (that can’t happen because you’re irreplaceable) and I’m trying to be one of the best,” he said.
Estrada is the son of Diaz and her former boyfriend, ‘90s matinee idol Gary Estrada. Although his parents didn’t end up together, he said his relationship with them is good.
In past interviews, Diaz said the lines between her and Gary are open although they are not really that close. She added that she’s thankful that Gary’s wife, former teen actress Bernadette Allyson, has always been nice and has welcomed her son into their home.
