Neri Naig, like any mother, would defend her child through thick and thin. The actress and wife of Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda shot back at her son Miggy’s bashers who say he is suffering from delayed speech.
It all started when Naig shared her son’s photo, describing him as “My little painter,” where Miggy is seen busy with his artwork. She posted the photo on her Instagram page last Tuesday, May 29.
While fans lauded her son’s talent, one netizen with the handle @choidm_md left a comment: “I noticed he has delayed speech. Haven’t heard him talk. I hope his pedia has checked on this already.” The comment was later deleted.
Naig was irked and fought back through a comment which has also already been: “@choidm_md dito ka po ba nakatira sa bahay namin para sabihin mo ganyan siya magsalita? Madaldal si Miggy di lang buo ang mga sentences. He is only one year old. Ano bang gusto niyo? Di bothered ang parents and pedia niya, so relax lang ikaw.”
(@choidm_md do you live here in our house for you to say those words? Miggy is talkative, he just doesn’t utter complete sentences. He is only one year old. What do you want? His parents and pedia are not bothered, so just relax.)
In a later post yesterday, June 5, Naig once again told off her son’s bashers, “relax lang kayo.” (Just relax.)
Naig went on defending Miggy: “Nagsasalita po siya, di lang buong sentences at nagagaya niya mga animal sounds with actions at patawa pa.” (He can talk, not just in complete sentences and he can mimic animal sounds with actions, and in a funny way, too.)
She explained that for a one-year-old child, it is but normal for Miggy to be able to clearly say just a few words for now. She added that she does not compare her son to other children, if he’s smarter or lesser than others, because she is proud of her son.
If there is one person who Naig will seek advice from, she said it will be Miggy’s pediatrician. She also pointed out how netizens criticize her son for having a supposedly large head.
“Bilang new mom, syempre naapektuhan ako noon,” Naig admitted. “Pina ultra sound ko anak ko. Normal si Miggy.” (Being a new mom, of course I was affected by that. I had him go through an ultra sound. Miggy is normal.)
Naig ended her post with some strong words: “[T]ingin muna kayo sa sarili nyo kase bilang adult, hinuhusgahan nyo ang isang taong bata na mas marami pang kayang gawin kaysa sa inyo, gag*!”
(You better look at yourselves first because as an adult, you’re judging a one-year-old who can do more than you!). JB
