SZA’s voice woes
R&B artist SZA, who was forced to sit out a couple of dates of her record label Top Dog Entertainment’s “The Championship” tour because of “swollen vocal cords,” said in a now deleted series of tweets that she may have “permanently injured” her voice.
“Tonight was the test. That settles that,” the singer-songwriter wrote on Twitter, referring to her recent return onstage. “I just want to be left alone. My priorities are f*cked up. I need space. Goodbye.”
Meanwhile, in an earlier Instagram post, SZA revealed that her vocal issues have been persisting for quite sometime now.
“This didn’t happen overnight. I have been troubleshooting for a while now. Usually, steroids and pushing through help. They don’t this time,” wrote SZA, who has been touring for the past 11 months.
“I’m not sick; my voice just won’t f*cking work,” added the “All the Stars” and “Love Galore” singer. “If I don’t pause now, I’ll be forced to pause permanently.”—ALLAN POLICARPIO
