Vanessa Hudgens has had enough of gun violence

Fil-Am actress Vanessa Hudgens, decrying the violence of the recent school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas, posted a photo of a girl holding a placard with the message, “Protect our students.”

In the accompanying caption, she said, “How and why the f**k does this keep happening? It’s so disturbing. You’d think that [we’d have] evolved as [a race]…But things keep happening that I can’t wrap my head around.”

The “High School Musical” actress, who recently starred in the sitcom “Powerless,” added, “[It’s] 2018, and we still can’t treat others as we want to be treated. Truly breaks my heart. [I’m united in] love, prayer and heartbreak with everyone affected by the shootings.”

The statement was a break from the usual glamorous pictures of Hudgens, 29, who often uploads photos from fashion shoots and selfies.

The film, TV and stage actress also counts herself an ally of the LGBT community, telling gay organization GLAAD in 2015, “It’s important for us to stand up for people and have each other’s backs…Love comes first for me.”—OLIVER PULUMBARIT
