Award-winning broadcast journalist Atom Araullo brings television viewers back into the sea as he explores one of the most ferocious creatures of the deep in his upcoming documentary “Shark Land.”
“Shark Land” is Araullo’s May 2018 release under “The Atom Araullo Specials,” his 55-min documentary specials which airs once every month on GMA 7. In this episode, Araullo explores the vast Philippine waters to get up close and personal with the different species of sharks as well as the dangers they face due to human intervention.
“Medyo nahahanay ako ngayon sa mga storya na may kinalaman sa ating kapaligiran,” he said during his recent guesting on “Tonight with Arnold Clavio.”
“Nakakatuwa naman, nagpunta tayo sa iba’t-iban bahagi ng Pilipinas dahil ang Pilipinas ang isa sa pinaka bio-diverse sa ating marine life kasama na diyan ‘yung mga pating,” he added.
Among the shark species his group saw were whale sharks and thresher sharks. He was also able to document the rampant shark fishing in different parts of the country.
All of these and more will be talked about in “Shark Land” which is set to air on May 27, Sunday 4:30 pm on GMA 7.
Meanwhile, Araullo is consistently earning praises for his effective portrayal in his debut film “Citizen Jake” as a journalist caught in a dispute between exposing and truth and protecting his dysfunctional political family.
His acting debut also served as director Mike de Leon’s big screen comeback 18 years after “Bayaning Third World.”
“Citizen Jake” currently airs in cinemas nationwide. /muf
