WATCH: A new trailer for Elvis documentary ‘The King’
A new trailer has been released for the upcoming documentary “The King”, in which filmmaker Eugene Jarecki tracks Elvis Presley’s rise and fall while traveling across the United States in the icon’s Rolls-Royce.
Alec Baldwin, Chuck D, Rosanne Cash, Emmylou Harris, Mike Myers, Lana Del Rey and Ashton Kutcher are some of the many stars who offer interviews as part of the documentary.
In the trailer, fans are seen lining up to catch a glimpse of the 1963 Rolls Royce, while Jarecki also touches upon issues such as drug use and cultural appropriation, as they relate to Presley’s career, to American society, and to notions of the American Dream.
“The King” got its world premiere at last year’s Cannes festival and has since had screenings at a number of other festivals, including a January showing at Sundance.
It is slated for release in U.S. theaters on June 22. JB
