Actress-host-model Solenn Heussaff isn’t having the best Tuesday morning, as she lamented the ever-increasing trash in the streets. Heussaff took to her Twitter page today, May 23, to express her frustrations regarding the trash around the metro, as well as why people cannot dispose their waste properly when it’s a seemingly simple thing to do.
“Guys, I’m seeing more and more trash on the streets,” tweeted Solenn. “Please teach the people around you to dispose properly and to stop destroying our country. It is so sad that something so simple is so hard for some people to do.”

In a follow-up tweet, Heussaff urged people to “create hope for the future generation.”
“You don’t need to be an expert to help. Educate the people around you. People need to seriously wake up!” she appealed.

One netizen who saw Heussaaff’s tweets suggested that it would be fun if there would be lots of volunteers who can start a movement in educating people, but it turns out that this is already being done, as pointed out by Heussaff.
“We have created a group called #WeCreateHope and maybe some of you can join us in touring the schools and help educate on the matter,” replied Heussaff. “More so it is the PARENTS that need education more than the children.”
Heussaff’s words seemed to have resonated with a lot of Twitter users, as they wrote in reply to her and agreed with what she said. Many, too, lamented people’s lack of discipline.
“Tama po kayo mam. Pero kahit anong paalala po natin, nasa sa tao na po yan. Self-discipline ika nga nila ang kulang sa atin…” wrote a certain Norman. (That’s right, ma’am. But no matter how we remind them, it still depends on the individual. Self-discipline, as they say, is what’s missing from us.)
Another also wrote that discipline starts at home. “Here in Japan, aside from self discipline, they start it at home then school and even the community are doing so much effort helping hand in hand just to keep our surroundings clean,” wrote one Joanne.
The netizen added: “If you can’t see any trash can, always bring a trash bag with you then you can throw it later.”
Heussaff isn’t the first celebrity to speak up about pollution and the trash that pervades the country. Last November 2017, Jericho Rosales found himself distressed over the accumulated trash in Siargao beach, and urged people to stop throwing trash in the ocean. Actress Iza Cazado also implored people to clean up after themselves after her dog Hugo died this month, when the dog accidentally ate plastic during one of its walks. JB
