Actor and singer-songwriter James Reid was one of the winners in the Myx Music Awards on Tuesday, May 15, bagging many awards such as Song of the Year, Artist of the Year and Male Artist of the Year. Reid edged out many talented artists vying for the said awards, such as pop princess Sarah Geronimo, Moira Dela Torre, Iñigo Pascual, Bamboo, KZ Tandingan and Yeng Constantino.
His single “Cool Down” from 2017 album “Palm Dreams” bagged the Song of the Year title. Meanwhile, his music video for single “The Life” also bagged the Music of the Year award.
But despite having all these titles under his belt, it seems Reid was not able to attend the Myx Music Awards. In a message to his followers on Twitter last May 16, Reid wrote that he regrets missing the awarding since he was “still recovering.”
“I’m regretting so hard that I wasn’t able to make it to the Myx Music Awards last night I’m still recovering and I need to be in top shape for my upcoming concerts,” he wrote.

In follow-up tweets, Reid said that he never thought his “Palm Dreams” album would even win an award, saying he did it all just to create music.
“Honestly I didn’t write Palm Dreams to win trophies. I did it because I wanted to create music, which is something I believe I was meant for, and to redefine ‘mainstream’ music in the Philippines.”
Reid also did not forget sending out his gratitude to his manifold believers for supporting him. “Thank you @MYXphilippines and all who voted for believing in my talent and recognising all the hard work and dedication that went into my music and for supporting my creativity and vision!”
Congratulations, James Reid! /ra
