Being a beauty queen is a privilege that comes only once in a young girl’s life and with such opportunity, any girl would surely seize the moment to have the ultimate time of her life.
This is what Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhilar, an Indian national, believes in.
Prior to her life as a beauty queen, a career as a doctor was ahead of her but she decided to put medical school on hold to give herself that one chance to show the world that she is a beauty with a purpose.
“I had to put in the full focus this deserves,” she said at the official media launch of Mister World at the Grand Ballroom of Marriott Hotel at Resorts World Manila on May 2.
“I’m just 20 and this is my one chance to make a difference and that is why I decided to take a break from medical school. Right now I want to be Miss World and be completely a Miss World and when I go back home after my reign I would give my hundred percent to medical school,” Chhilar added.
This beauty, who comes from a family of doctors, aspires to be a cardiac surgeon. She maintained a good academic standing. But unlike other students who nail themselves in academics, she managed to have extra-curricular activities.
Chhilar is also a trained Indian classical dancer, poet and painter. During the talent round of the Miss India competition, she performed a Bollywood dance number.
Chhilar is not too far from considering being an actress.
“I think it’s quite exciting — the whole industry — and I’m still in the process of learning about it and maybe, yes, because I have been a part of the industry as well now, and they have accepted me with open arms and I have received a lot of love so, yes, maybe in the coming years I might think of showbiz,” she said.
Chhilar came to the Philippines recently for the official announcement of the staging of Mister World 2018 pageant in Manila. She will be back for the competition’s finals night on January 27, 2019.
