It’s official. Solar Entertainment will distribute Mike de Leon’s comeback film, “Citizen Jake.”

The metafilm, which features broadcast journalist-turned-actor Atom Araullo in the lead role, has just received an R-13 rating, without cuts, from the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board.

The movie follows a reporter/university instructor as he investigates the mysterious death of a female student in Baguio City.

As he previously expressed, he is looking forward to making more movies.

Wilson Tieng, Solar Entertainment Corp. president and CEO, told the Inquirer: “Mike de Leon’s unconventional storytelling is something we would like to offer the audience. The story of ‘Citizen Jake’ is also relevant today and we hope this will drive moviegoers to watch it starting May 23.” De Leon’s film will be shown in theaters nationwide.

Apart from nationwide screenings, De Leon hopes the film will also be shown in Filipino communities abroad. —BAYANI SAN DIEGO JR.
