Close encounter with ‘Bourne’ star that would never happen in Hollywood
A PDI photographer ventured into the Manila Pen Wednesday night on a chance that he might run into a “Bourne Legacy” star. Okay, it was more of following a tip than taking a chance.
At The Bar he did run into a big one—no less than Jeremy Renner, who plays the lead character Aaron Cross in the spy thriller directed by Tony Gilroy.
Perhaps taking note of the very pro-looking camera, Renner extended his hand and said, “Hi, I’m Jeremy; I’m glad to meet you.” This was followed by an earnest request to not take his picture, since he was having a drink. But he was fully clothed and wasn’t on the floor or throwing up! What was wrong with being photographed while having a drink?
We were told earlier that the Philippines had been picked as one of the locations for the movie because of its “smiling, friendly people.” Maybe so. Renner’s line would never have worked with the Hollywood paparazzi.
‘Politely declined’

Article continues after this advertisementPH asked Influential Relative to pull strings. IR’s Underlings, who had tripped all over themselves giving in to PH’s every whim in the past, failed this time.
A mole whispered that the international production “politely declined” the generous offer. After all, real professional actors with discernible skills vied for small roles by going through three rounds of auditions. PH couldn’t just sashay into the set with family connections as credentials.
Vodka in a jug
Veteran Performer was once the toast of Show Town—in demand, not just among producers but also among gentlemen callers.
Top Honcho was among her many suitors.
But after a traumatic incident abroad, not to mention the passing of her beloved partner, VP got depressed.
According to a mole, VP turned to booze to ease the pain. These days, VP is often seen carrying a thermos with the logo of a popular coffee shop. It’s not a caffeine fix; the jug contains vodka.
To her credit, the ultimate performer is still every inch a showstopper.
Multiple versions
Smells fishy: Seasoned Insider was aghast to learn that the box-office results of certain films had more than two versions.
Quite tellingly, there was a P30-million discrepancy in the figures in versions 1 and 2.
Major Star was upset because the figures were obviously tampered with to favor some people over others.
Insiders are considering a “boycott” next year, unless some quarters shape up and stop the deceitful practice.
Smear campaign
Is there an ongoing smear campaign against Popular Star?
Insiders have been receiving text messages alleging that PS’s success was the fruit of her “illicit relationship” with Playboy Exec.
According to the grapevine, PS gets prime projects because she’s the apple of PE’s eye. Unfortunately, PE is married to Big Boss’ scion.
Whoever is behind this ugly rumor must have a huge ax to grind against PS or PE.
‘X’ man
Hunky Actor won not a few gay fans with sexy “indie” movies that required him to bare more than just his acting chops (that were barely there).
Turned out, HA made a hard-core porno flick before top-billing indies. An X-rated bed scene featuring HA, an unidentified girl and another stud, has been circulating online. HA has since vanished. Sketchy reports say a rich gay benefactor has ensnared HA, who is now retired and based abroad.
