Six Filipinos have made it in this year’s Berlin Talent Campus, a six-day creative summit for emerging filmmakers. The Filipinos who will be attending the workshops and lectures in Berlin next month are Sheron Dayoc, Jewel Maranan, Aiza Jane Idanan, Carlo Francisco Manatad, Bianca Balbuena and Vanessa Ulgado.
In line with the forthcoming trip, the filmmakers mounted an event called “Watch our films, help send us to Berlin”—a fundraiser to help raise money for their airfare. The screenings were held at the Cinema Is Incomplete 117-C on Anonas Extension, Sikatuna Village, Quezon City, last week. Screenings at De La Salle University are also in the works.
Among the films in the lineup are Pepe Diokno’s “Engkwentro” (produced by Balbuena), Manatad’s “Hungkag,” Dayoc’s “Angan-angan,” Maranan’s “Tundong Magiliw: Pasaan Isinisilang Syang Mahirap” and Idanan’s “Limang Libo.”—Bayani San Diego Jr.
