Nine film and television documentaries are to receive accolades at the 2018 Peabody Awards on May 19, including sealife investigation “Chasing Coral”, life story “Maya Angelou: And Still I Rise”, and coming-of-age account “America ReFramed: Deej”.
Alongside “Chasing Coral”, “Maya Angelou: And Still I Rise” and an autism-focused episode of “America ReFramed”, the Peabody Awards judging panel has named six other winners of its documentary category for 2018.
Those include family reunification project “Indivisible”, Oscar-nominated Syrian medical aid feature “Last Men in Aleppo”, and North Sea fishing expedition “The Islands and the Whales”.
Also named among 2018’s best are mass shooting aftermath “Newtown”, United States domestic terrorism contextualization “Oklahoma City” and prison tragedy “Time: The Kalief Browder Story”.
The 77th annual Peabody Awards Ceremony will take place on May 19.
Winners in entertainment, children’s and youth categories will be announced on April 19; news, radio and podcast, and public service awards will be announced on the 24th.
U.S. actress Carol Burnett of “The Carol Burnett Show” was named recipient of the Peabody Career Achievement Award on April 12. JB
