Cyberspace was recently overrun with dire, unverified reports on actor Christopher de Leon’s health condition.

The screen veteran had encountered a mishap on the set of the GMA 7 series “Kambal Karibal” a month ago.

During a scene, a blank bullet reportedly grazed De Leon’s leg. The staff, and De Leon himself, didn’t think much of the wound, which led to painful complications.

He eventually landed in the hospital and, with dispatch, some netizens, fearing that the bruise had gotten infected, asked for prayers.

Actress Sandy Andolong, De Leon’s wife, denied the distressing rumors. She told the Inquirer on Monday: “He’s OK. He’s home resting, and he’s ready to go back to work this week (Wednesday).”

He was confined in the hospital for only two and a half days, Andolong explained. “All test results are normal. God is good.”

Although grateful for the outpouring of concern, she conceded that some of the news stories on the incident had gone “a bit overboard.”

In any case, everything is back to normal.

The GMA Entertainment Content Group issued a statement, relating that the network is “in close coordination” with the actor’s family. “All medical results are good … We are looking forward to his quick recovery.” —BAYANI SAN DIEGO JR.
