LOOK: James Reid imagined with facial hair for ‘Never Not Love You’

“Never Not Love You” reimagined the JaDine love team as a couple trying to achieve their dreams in big cities, and making necessary sacrifices when one of them has the chance to work abroad.

James Reid plays Gio, a graphic artist who lands a dream job in London. He and girlfriend Joanne, portrayed by Nadine Lustre, are put into a tough position as she has a budding career in Makati.

Director Tonette Jadaone has been revealing pieces of trivia about the movie on her Instagram Stories, and one of it is about scenes set in the future.

“One script draft had the film going four to five years into the future — with Gio at 33 years old,” wrote Jadaone.

“We had a look test on how Gio would look like with mustache and stubbles, and here’s what we came up with. What do you think of Tito Gio?”

The picture shows a stony-faced Reid with his hair slicked back and his face dotted with hair. He sports a button-down and appears to be in a fluorescent-lit office.

Is it yay or nay on Reid’s mature look?

The look contrasts with his present-day character who is a free spirit, preferring to tie his hair and wear loose shirts which show off his artfully tattooed arms.

Though the film shows how both characters matured through the years, this alternate ending seems interesting as it shows another “what if” of the story.

Jadaone also shared that Stevie Nicks’ song “Landslide” could’ve played throughout the movie’s ending. Instead, Ebe Dancel’s cover of Sugarfree’s “Prom” was chosen.

“Seeing how ‘Prom’ had so much impact in their love story, I decided ‘Prom’ would be the better song to end the film.”

“Did we choose the right song?” she asks fans.

Though Stevie Nicks’ classic would have suited the movie’s soundtrack, Ebe Dancel’s soulful vocals in “Prom” may still be the better fit, as shown by the viewers’ warm reception of this love story. JB
