Bb. Pilipinas Supranational 2018 Jehza Huelar and Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach have something in common. Both of them joined Bb. Pilipinas (BP) for three consecutive years before they finally won the crown.
Jehza admits that Pia is her role model. They had the same path in their BP journey: The two beauty queens were runners-up during their first try, then they were part of the Top 15 in their second attempt.
And it looks like the similarities don’t stop there. Just like Pia, Jehza is oozing with more than enough charms to bring home the crown—but, in Jehza’s case, it’s the Supranational title.
Although Miss World Philippines 2016 Catriona Gray is more than deserving to win the Bb. Pilipinas Universe 2018 crown, wouldn’t it be better if titleholders from Bb. Pilipinas were barred from joining Miss World Philippines, and vice versa? This should be done to give other candidates, especially the first-timers, a fighting chance.
Here’s my chat with Jehza:
How are you preparing for the Miss Supranational pageant? I’m getting information about the organization’s background and the people behind it. That’s the most important part of my preparation.
What’s the best and toughest part of being a beauty queen? The best part is being an influencer. The toughest is to be consistent in influencing others in a positive way.
What’s your advice to girls who are not exactly “beauty queen” material? There are infinite ways to live your passion. Look for it. Work hard. You will eventually realize you’re up for something good.
If you didn’t win this year, would you have joined for the fourth time in 2019? Not anymore.
What’s your beauty regimen? I drink lots of water, and I don’t sleep with makeup on.
What’s it like being the fiancée of a PBA star (PJ Simon)? It’s like a teenage, first-love feeling, especially when I watch his games live. It makes me feel giddy wearing his basketball jersey. Everything is real and sincere with PJ.
Please share some of your wedding plans. We want an intimate garden wedding, or one at a beach.
How do you and PJ resolve misunderstandings? We make sure we talk things out. We don’t go to bed when the other is upset, or if there’s an unresolved problem.
Would you be willing to join show biz? Nope. I’m already satisfied with what I have achieved in my career.
What’s your advice to girls who want to join BP? Give it a chance. Just don’t forget the main reason why you’re joining. Always hold on to your values.
If you would be a judge in BP, what question do you want to ask the Top Five candidates? What is the most important quality a woman should have to win one of the crowns?
Personal: Damo guid nga salamat to migo Allan Tajanlangit for his kindness overload.
