The Sottos are among the few celebrities who have consistently been on live television six days a week since the dawn of long-running noontime show Eat Bulaga in 1979. Doing a live show allows no holidays, not even Christmas and New Year, because as they say, the show must go on. The only time they get time-off is when the Holy Week comes. Unlike those who took a vacation abroad, the Sottos opted for a local vacation in the beautiful island of Cebu.
In Instagram photos posted by Sen. Tito Sotto (@helenstito), the clan can be seen in their comfy swimwear, ready to hit the water. His wife, veteran actress Helen Gamboa, was looking regal even in casual beachwear. Maru Sotto, one the famous Sotto brothers, was all smiles for the camera as Tito Sotto did a sneaky photobomb.
Shedding off the coat and tie and pulling off a pair of shades and a rash guard, Sen. Tito Sotto can be seen in another photo out for some water adventure with his family.
But of course, what’s a beach trip without a seafood trip? Not only is Cebu famous for its stunning beaches, but it also has some of the most diverse and mouth-watering array of seafood.
As the Sottos indulged in a shellfish feast, Sen. Tito engaged in some Instagram banter with fellow Eat Bulaga co-host Joey De Leon who is in Japan with his family.
“Kayong mga nasa Japan, laban kayo dito sa Cebu? @angpoetnyo@dior.snow @allan_klownz,” he wrote.

Eat Bulaga has annual Lenten specials shown during the Holy Week. This year, the show featured a six-episode special that started with “My Carinderia Girl” on Holy Monday starring Ruby Rodriguez and Kenneth Medrano; and “Haligi ng Pangarap” starring Alden Richards, Sen. Tito Sotto, Joey De Leon and veteran actor Tirso Cruz III.
The Holy Tuesday treat starred Ryza Mae Dizon and superstar Nora Aunor for “A Daughter’s Love,” and “Pamilya” headlined by Ryan Agoncillo, Jake Ejercito, Ronaldo Valdez, and Paolo Ballesteros.
Meanwhile, the Holy Wednesday presentation included the duo of Jose Manalo and Wally Bayola for “Hating Kapatid,” and capping it off was “Taray ni Tatay” with Vic Sotto, Maine Mendoza, Allan K, Jimmy Santos, Anjo Yllana, Rita Avila, and with the special participation of Kendoll (Tenten Mendoza). /je
