Award-winning actor Eddie Garcia makes a comeback in Cinemalaya, a film festival devoted to showcasing independent films.
In a recent post on Cinemalaya’s official Facebook page, the return of the actor to the festival was announced.
His last film appearance in Cinemalaya was in 2012 through the film “Bwakaw” by Jun Robles Lana. Six years later, he’s back as one of the two lead actors of the film entry titled “ML” directed by Benedict Mique.
This is Mique’s first feature film.
The other male lead will be given life by actor Tony Labrusca.
The story goes as “Carlo meets Colonel, an old resident in their village who was a former soldier during the Marcos regime. After learning how the Colonel cruelly tortured student activists, Carlo’s life changes when he experienced all the Martial Law cruelties one night.”
Cinemalaya 2018 is set to run from August 3 to 12, at CCP Theaters and Ayala Cinemas.
Garcia has been in the movie industry since the post-war Philippines. He is mostly known for both his villain roles and starring action films. His iconic humorous lines have also been among his trademarks. Throughout his career spanning almost seven decades, he has appeared in more than 400 films. Garcia is now 88 years old.
As of the moment, he currently appears on top-rating Kapamilya action series “Ang Probinsyano.” /jpv
