The Cathy Garcia-Molina movie is the first project together of Wurtzbach and Anderson. Incidentally, Alonzo and Wurtzbach share the same showbiz beginnings since they were launched in the now-defunct teen-oriented show “K2BU” alongside Shaina Magdayao and former actress Angeline Aguilar.

In a “Maalaala Mo Kaya” episode, Wurtzbach revealed that among her frustrations in life was the stagnancy of her showbiz career at the time – with Alonzo’s career soaring especially as she was paired with ace actor John Lloyd Cruz. The beauty queen consequently decided to take a hiatus from showbiz.

Instead, Wurtzbach dedicated her energy in harnessing her flair to win titles in beauty contests. She was a three-time Binibining Pilipinas contender. She returned to showbiz after winning the 2015 Miss Universe crown.

The comedy movie, “Gandarrapido: The Revenger Squad,” was the vehicle for Wurtzbach’s official comeback in show business. The movie, which was part of the Metro Manila Film Festival last December, also starred Vice Ganda and Daniel Padilla.
