Christopher de Leon was injured on the last shooting day of teleserye “Kambal Karibal”.
The 61-year-old veteran actor was hit in the thigh with a blank bullet during a scene where Marvin Agustin was supposed to shoot him, as reported by Philippine Entertainment Portal.
The injury wasn’t checked initially since de Leon was in a rush to make it to a visit to Marawi for an outreach program. However, during the trip, he was observed to be limping.
He was brought to the Asian Hospital in Muntinlupa for examination; an x-ray showed that he had to be operated on. He is in the hospital’s recovery room following the surgery. According to a doctor, the wound could’ve been fatal had it hit his groin.
The show’s executive producer is said to have offered to cover the medical expenses and the production staff has been assisting de Leon. The gun supplier has also committed to taking responsibility for the incident. The case will allegedly be investigated by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
Meanwhile, de Leon recently posted on his Instagram page a collage of photos of his Marawi visit.
“God bless Marawi! Looking at ground zero,” the actor wrote.
The actor’s wife, actress Sandy Andolong, also posted some photos of the Marawi outreach via her Instagram page. In one picture, Christopher can be seen seated next to his daughter, beauty queen Mariel de Leon.
They also handed out bags of goods and aid to the people; Christopher appeared well enough to stand in one shot, as he helped in handing out the bags.
Andolong, in her post, thanked many others who helped in organizing the outreach. Niña V. Guno/JB
