Cheer Factor: Filipino short in Berlin, too

Mendoza’s “Captive,” Rommel Tolentino’s “Nono” and Marlon Rivera’s “Ang Babae sa Septic Tank,” Filipino filmmaker Khavn de la Cruz’s film “Pusong Wazak” is also competing in the international section of the Berlinale Shorts in Germany next month. The short film tells the love story of a criminal and a prostitute. Prior to Berlin, De la Cruz’s full-length feature film “Mondomanila” will have its world premiere at the Rotterdam fest, which runs from Jan. 25 to Feb. 5 in the Netherlands. Bayani San Diego Jr.
