The country’s master of parodies Michael V. strikes again.
This time, the Kapuso comedian-singer-impersonator took a shot at Ex Battalion’s (ExB) song by spoofing the latter’s chart-topping and controversial music video “Hayaan Mo Sila.”
The parody performance titled “Gayahin Mo Sila” as performed by made-up artists “Copy Cats” and “Class B Tayo” was aired on GMA-7’s Bubble Gang last March 9.
“Ang problema sa orig ay iisipin pa. Gayahin mo sila mas madaling kumopya,” Michael V sang.
(The problem with original content is that you have to think about it. Just imitate them, it’s easier to copy.)
The clips of the parody music video quickly went viral over the weekend.
Many netizen saw Michael V’s parody as a swipe at Ex Battalion, who rose to fame because of their viral “Hayaan Mo Sila” music video.
Ex Battalion’s music video, which garnered at least 13 million views, was briefly taken down on YouTube because of an alleged copyright infringement.
Some alleged that Ex Battalion stole the beats from Diamond Style’s “One Kiss.”
But the group explained in a statement that they did not steal the beat from the production. They said they bought the beat used in the song and needed to pay more because they exceeded the limit for allowed viewers.
Michael V. is known for his literal Filipino translation parody of hit songs. He is behind “Bumabalik Na Sa Akin Ngayon” (It’s All Coming Back To Me Now) and “Dalawa’y Naging Isa” (Two Become One). AQE /je
