“Things are still unfolding for her,” singer-actress Agot Isidro says of her character in the afternoon drama series “Asintado” on ABS-CBN. “The twists for the character are slowly being revealed to me as we go along.”
Agot plays Hillary, wife of corrupt political leader Salvador del Mundo (Noni Buencamino). Viewers can’t help but note Hillary’s similarities to Verna Syquia-Tuazon, the character that Agot played in the first season of the action-drama series, “FPJ’s Ang Probinsiyano.”
“Yes, they are both gullible wives. They’re blind to the indiscretions committed by their influential husbands. They serve as the moral compass of their respective families. They act as enablers of their children. Even the way they dress up is similar,” she points out. “But I was told that her character will develop in ways that will add layers to her. I know their (creative team members) plans, and they’re quite exciting.”
The singer-actress says she accepted the project because of her costars. “It’s my first time ever to work with LT (Lorna Tolentino). Julia (Montes) is there; and so is Cherry Pie (Picache). She wasn’t in the original cast, but I like that Shaina (Magdayao) is taking her character to heart. She really prepares for it.”
Agot says of Shaina: “It’s interesting to see how she transformed herself. Like me, she just came from another series (’The Better Half’), so she has had to veer away from that character. The fact that she does her homework inspires me, too.” —MARINEL R. CRUZ
