Saab Magalona detailed her experience of childbirth and loss in a somber blog post titled “Heartbroken but Hopeful.”
The musician, who is married to guitarist and Cheats bandmate Jim Bacarro, shared that she gave birth to twins last month, but that on Feb. 8, their baby girl passed away.
Magalona, 29, was in a critical condition along with their newborns. “I was in and out of the ICU and I almost didn’t make it.”
Their surviving son is in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. “The doctors initially said he was in critical condition. He has fought through so many complications and had to undergo surgery and is thankfully doing much better today.”
In Mar. 7, Magalona posted an update that their baby boy was no longer in a critical condition.

She didn’t state the reason behind the complications, but expressed how heartbroken they were. “I’ve stayed silent because I think I’ve been in denial. I thought keeping it to ourselves would make this whole thing unreal.”
“Publishing this means that this whole thing is real but I can’t keep her a secret for much longer. I need to honor her. She was such a beautiful girl and we believe she gave her life for me and her twin brother,” she wrote.
She shared photos of their baby’s grave which was still unmarked and honored with a spray of daisies, buried next to her father, the late rapper Francis M’s grave.
“Today also marks the 9th death anniversary of my dad. I know he will be looking after his apo (grandchild).” /ra
