The Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards has apologized to Mick Jagger, after saying that his friend and bandmate needs to have a vasectomy.
“Mick’s a randy old bastard,” Keith told The Wall Street Journal in reaction to Mick fathering yet another baby—his eighth—at 74. “It’s time for the snip—you can’t be a father at that age. Those poor kids!”
Now, Keith’s saying he “deeply regrets” the comments he made. “They were completely out of line,” he tweeted.
In the same interview, Keith took a swipe at pop star Taylor Swift, when asked who among the current pop stars has his approval. “Good luck, girl—wish her well while it lasts,” he said.
He quickly added, however, that people shouldn’t take his thoughts on pop music seriously.
“I’ve just been around too long to be picking the bones out of kids,” he said. “It wouldn’t be fair of me, and I have always been an opinionated bastard, anyway. And I never did really like pop music—even when I became [part of] pop music, I was listening to the blues and jazz, and not interested in the hits.” —ALLAN POLICARPIO
