Neri Naig is asking you not to fall for this scam.
While she is generous by helping children to go to school through her organization “Small Change,” it seems some people have other plans with bad intentions. In this Instagram post on Wednesday, Naig got word that scammers are now using the name of her organization to collect money.
As shown in the photos, a message is circulating that says a P100 donation would already help children in Tagaytay to go to school. It even includes a bank account number and offers a meet-up in the area.
Not having it, Naig disproved this by saying, “Ang daming manloloko talaga (There are so many scammers)!” The actress also asked her followers to disregard the message if they have received it.
“Wag magpaloko sa taong magnanakaw. Pang aral ng mga bata eh nanakawin niyo pa (Don’t be fooled by thieves. They would steal money that’s meant for the schooling of children),” Naig warned. “Magtrabaho kaya kayo no (Why don’t you work)?” she said, addressing the scammers.
She then shared the e-mail address with people who are interested to donate in “Small Change.” Naig asked people to double-check messages they receive, especially from those who are based abroad.
Alarmed over her post, netizens vented their anger toward the scammers.
And this follower chose to mock the text with the misspelled word “childrens”.
You have been warned. /ra
