Karylle no pressure from mom Zsa Zsa to have a baby

While her mother, Zsa Zsa Padilla, recently expressed her excitement and readiness to be called “lola,” Karylle said she’s in no way being forced to have a baby soon.

“I’m happy, of course. But I don’t see it as her pressuring me. When your relationship with your mother is very close, that sort of thing is never offensive… I’m sure it’s coming from a place of love,” Karylle told reporters at a recent press conference for her Valentine concert, “Date Night.”

“My mother and I talk very openly about everything, including life plans,” added the singer, who has been married to Sponge Cola frontman Yael Yuzon since 2014.

However, she acknowledged that things can get overwhelming for married women like her during family gatherings the minute everyone starts asking the same question: “Why don’t you have a baby yet?”

“You see a lot of women now being vocal about the pressure they feel during the holidays or family events, with all the titas giving you all sorts of comments—it gets quite hard,” she related. “But at the same time, we also see more women being supportive of each other, especially when they’re the same age and going through the same issues.”

The 36-year-old recording artist is currently working on a Christmas album—a dream project—and would love to do another stage musical after “Awitin Mo at Isasayaw Ko” in 2016. —ALLAN POLICARPIO
