ShaGab reunion excites, enthralls ’80s kids
Long before AlDub, JaDine, LizQuen and KathNiel, they were the tandem to beat on the big screen.
The return of ShaGab, aka Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion, was greeted with unabashed excitement by their fans—mostly 1980s (and some 1990s) kids who are now all grown-up.
Even celebrities, certified ShaGab fans, weighed in on the much-heralded McDonald’s Valentine commercial, which was unveiled on Friday.
Some took to social media to express their enthusiasm. Inquirer Entertainment rounded up some stars who can’t help but get excited and enthralled by the ShaGab reunion.
Gabby relates: “It’s a great concept, and we were able to work out our schedules, and a lot of people worked to make this happen. Perfect timing [lang talaga].”
Gabby is ecstatic over the reunion. “We’re really excited to share this with everyone, especially with our supporters who have been waiting for a comeback project for years;” 25 years, to be exact.
But, here’s a piece of trivia. If you notice Gabby’s social media messages are punctuated with the cryptic hashtag #10 #20. Turned out, that was the couple’s code for “I love you” back in the day. There were no cellphones and beepers in the ’80s, so they would message each other on CB radios with the code 10/20.

Wow, galing! I am a Sharon-Gabby fan, and I watched their movies before. By the way, their second movie, “P.S. I Love You,” was shot in our house in La Vista. I was in third year high school that time. I am excited to see them together again. It will surely bring back many memories. Of course, now I am their good friend (laughs)!

I’m so thrilled. I am a Sharon-Gabby fan. I used to watch their movies growing up. I lined up in the theaters. I even got one of the bracelets that were given away as souvenirs for “My Only Love.”

ShaGab was the love team when I was growing up. The Sharon-Gabby tandem was a classic pairing. They’re my idols! This love team deserves to be seen again. Now in commercials and, who knows, soon in TV shows and perhaps, even the movies. (Dapat lang!) They have since matured as persons and actors. Given the right projects, I am sure they will make more beautiful, classic movies together. I hope to get to work with them someday. Basta, they are inspiring!
