Vice Ganda is recovering from a procedure after kidney stones caused him stomach pain.

Vice was forced to cancel an appearance in a Vigan festival due to “severe abdominal pains,” Team Vice announced Sunday.

Vice’s sister, Dr. Tina Viceral, explained to ABS-CBN News that the kidney stones had blocked his urinary tract. “Urine could not pass, resulting in a pressure buildup in the kidney, thus the pain.”

The first treatment was a common procedure called shock wave lithotripsy. The kidney stones are broken down from outside the body using shock waves. In Vice’s case, the stones could not be targeted, so he underwent another treatment called cystoscopy, where a thin tube is inserted into the urethra to “allow urine to pass.”

The “It’s Showtime” host is taking medication to “dissolve his stones” and has already been discharged from the hospital. He is set to return to work on Wednesday.

Even after the painful experience, Vice’s sharp wit remains intact.

Kaya naman pala di matuloy tuloy ang Darna dahil nasa kidney ko ang bato (No wonder Darna was delayed—the stone is in my kidney),” he tweeted on Monday morning, referring to the movie project “Darna” starring Liza Soberano, which has yet to begin production. “Pasensya na Liza (Sorry, Liza)!  Niña V.
