Former “Beverly Hills, 90210” and “Charmed” actress Shannen Doherty, after surviving a two-year battle with breast cancer, is back and considers herself “blessed” to work in front of the camera again.
“It wasn’t that long ago that I wondered if I would ever get to go back to doing what I love,” she said in an Instagram post on the set of an undisclosed project. “Slipping into a character. Creating. Being on set, around the circus and feeling that deep satisfaction of accomplishment. This past week, I worked seven days. No weekend off, and I loved every second.”
Doherty, whose cancer went in remission last April, will be guest-starring in three episodes of the new “Heathers” series. Set to air in March on Paramount Network, the revival is inspired by the 1988 film that she and Winona Ryder starred in. Doherty played one of the original Heathers, a group of high school mean girls, in the black comedy.
“I worked hard to get here, but I’m also very blessed,” said the actress, 46. “So off to work I go with a full spirit. A spirit of gratitude and love and deep appreciation. There is beauty in everything.”—OLIVER PULUMBARIT
