WATCH: Helen Mirren destroys James Corden with her rap skills on ‘Drop the Mic’
Academy Award-winner Helen Mirren was indeed a “dame who doesn’t give a damn” when she destroyed late night show host James Corden with her rapping skills.
In the “Drop the Mic” segment of “The Late Late Show with James Corden”, the veteran actress was ready for battle as she entered the scene like a true queen, donning a red robe and a crown. She even gave her best royal wave to the audience.
Once the rap battle commenced, Mirren told Corden to bow down to her. The late night host shot back, “We’re not at home [in the UK] anymore. I’m the king in this studio.”
The two exchanged insults, such as when Corden told Mirren to be afraid of fellow actress Meryl Streep “because she lives here (in America),” that she’s “outdated and overrated,” and for being his “royal pain in the ass.”
Fighting back, the actress hurled insults at Corden too, like when she cited that she has played dozens of roles such as that of queens and witches; meanwhile, Corden’s role “was the guy who begged to be here.” She even said that the rap battle was fun because it was “the bit that [Corden] found in Jimmy Fallon’s trash.”
At the end of the battle, Mirren defeated Corden, which made him finally bow down to the winner.
