Young singer Rita Daniela, who’s part of the coming Valentine’s Day concert, “Timeless OPM,” featuring Rico J. Puno, Rey Valera, Imelda Papin and Claire de la Fuente, said she hopes to introduce the songs of such local icons to her generation of music lovers.

“I hope to be instrumental in inspiring other young people to listen to these artists’ music, too. The songs back then are beautiful and so wellcrafted,” Rita said at a recent press conference for the said show to be held at the Resorts Newport Performing Arts Theater on Feb. 14.

“I love listening to classic OPM songs, like Valera’s ‘Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo’ and Puno’s ‘Kay Hirap Mong Limutin,’” related the 22-year-old GMA 7 talent. “It’s a blessing to be working with such seasoned artists. They have a wealth of experience. I hope I can ask them for advice about performing and dealing with people,” she added.—ALLAN POLICARPIO
