On Diego’s bucket list: Running naked in the snow

If you’re not with your father, find a father figure somewhere else,” said young actor Diego Loyzaga on how it’s like growing up away from his father, former action star Cesar Montano.

Diego made this declaration over the weekend, months after his highly publicized spat with Cesar. The actor then said that he and Cesar had already spoken and patched things up since then.

The 22-year-old actor also clarified that he was “not looking for a father figure in my life right now. My dad is still alive, and I still get to spend time with him once in a while. He is and will always be my father … Yes, we had a minor misunderstanding, but we’re still blood-related. I’m his son. No matter what happens, we’re family. ”

Diego declared: “I love my father, and I know he loves me.” In fact, the actor said they greeted each other during the holidays. “Erpat (slang for father) is busy, because he’s focused on politics these days. I know that he still cares, even though he is far,” said Diego of Cesar, who is currently Tourism Promotions Board chief operating officer.

At the recent press conference for his latest film, Connie Macatuno’s screen drama “Mama’s Girl,” Diego also answered questions related to the nude video that he recently posted on Instagram.

“It was an accident. I was supposed to tap ‘save’ on my phone, but hit on ‘My Stories,’ instead. I only realized that I’ve posted it when a friend asked me why I did it. That’s when I took it down,” Diego explained to reporters.

The video was only one of many that Diego took during his European trip with his mom, actress Teresa Loyzaga, during the holidays. “It’s a Swedish and Finnish tradition to get buck naked in the hot tub after dinner during winter. I was vlogging (video blogging) the whole time we were there. I was showing everyone who follows me on IG how different the culture there is,” he pointed out. “I guess the video became a big issue because I took it down immediately when I really should have just let it stay there. I wasn’t trying to be vulgar or scandalous.”

Diego added that it was also on his bucket list to experience running naked while heavy snow is falling. “This happened on New Year’s Eve. Guess who my cameraman was? It was my mom! We were in Europe, and it’s not a big deal there. Don’t they have this saying that, ‘When in Rome, do as the Romans do’? That was what it was.”

“Mama’s Girl,” which also stars Sylvia Sanchez, Sofia Andres and Jameson Blake, will
be shown in cinemas starting Jan. 17.
