Director Ridley Scott recently confirmed his desire to create a third installment to the dystopian science fiction franchise of “Blade Runner”.

When asked by British site Digital Spy about his opinion on a third movie, Scott said, “I hope so. I think there is another story.”

Scott adds, “I’ve got another one ready to evolve and be developed, so there is certainly one to be done for sure.”

Similar to the original “Blade Runner”, Denis Villenueve’s “Blade Runner 2049” did not break box office records. Scott himself acknowledged that the movie was too long.

But “Blade Runner” still went on to become a cult classic, influencing sci-fi stories which ranged from books to other movies. “Blade Runner 2049” may still get to enjoy this “slow burn” effect.

For the time being, fans will have to wait for further announcements from Scott. Perhaps this time, it will no longer take decades to create a new sequel. Alfred Bayle/JB
