After almost four years of dating, Ai-Ai delas Alas and Gerald Sibayan finally tied the knot in a star-studded wedding filled with tears and laughter, on Dec. 12 at Christ the King Parish in Quezon City.
“Ai-Ai looked fresh and very excited as she got out of a white vintage car. But she shed tears once she started walking down the aisle. Gerald cried, too,” director Louie Ignacio, who painted the actress’ veil with colorful flower accents, told the Inquirer.
Ai-Ai wore a Frederick Peralta gown—a gift from one of her best friends, Marian Rivera.
The couple’s exchange of vows, on the other hand, was a lighthearted moment, related Louie (who was the bride’s designated “yaya” during the wedding). “They were laughing and teasing each other. Napaka-cool lang nila,” said the filmmaker.
Louie and Ai-Ai were two of the 32 honorees at the recent 2017 Inquirer Indie Bravo! Awards.
Cubao Bishop Honesto Ongtioco presided over the High Mass, which was concelebrated by at least four other bishops and more than 10 priests.
The maid of honor was Ai-Ai’s daughter, Sophia; the best men were Ai-Ai’s son Sancho and Alden Richards; the matron of honor was Sharon Cuneta.
“I’m super happy for both my mom and Gerald,” Sancho told the Inquirer. “It has always been my mom’s dream to have a wedding like this. I’m happy that, finally, she has found someone to spend her life with forever.”
GMA 7 chair and chief executive officer Felipe L. Gozon, former vice president Jejomar Binay, GMA 7 executive Marivin Arayata, talent manager and show biz columnist Lolit Solis and APT Entertainment’s Tony Tuviera were among the principal sponsors in attendance.
Show biz couples Vic Sotto and Pauleen Luna, as well as Marian and Dingdong Dantes were secondary sponsors.
Meanwhile, the roster of bridesmaids and groomsmen included such celebrities as Piolo Pascual, Randy Santiago, Jose Manalo, Jerald Napoles, Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, Pops Fernandez, Valeen Montenegro, Barbie Forteza and Rufa Mae Quinto.
After the wedding, Ai-Ai—who plans to go on honeymoon with Gerald in Europe—posted on her Instagram account photos of the wedding, one of which said, “To God be the Glory!”
