British band The Cure has announced it will mark its 40th anniversary with a July 7 show in London.
The 120-minute headlining show will be presented as part of BST Hyde Park, with a host of other acts to join the band, including Interpol, Goldfrapp, Editors, Ride, Slowdive and The Twilight Sad (and many more still to be announced, according to the band).
Founded in 1976 by lead singer Robert Smith, the Cure played their first show and released their first single under that name (they previously went by East Cure) in 1978. The group has since shaped post-punk in the United Kingdom and has sold more than 30 million albums and singles over its 40-year history.
A number of other performers for the 2018 BST Hyde Park festival have already been announced, including headliners Eric Clapton, Michael Bublé, Bruno Mars and Roger Waters. Many more announcements, including supporting acts, are still to come.
