Pop star Fergie has opened up about her struggle with meth addiction during her pre-Black Eyed Peas days, revealing that her vice had her “hallucinating on a daily basis.”
“At my lowest point, I suffered from chemically induced psychosis and dementia,” the singer told the UK newspaper iNews in a recent interview. “It took a year after getting off that drug for the chemicals in my brain to settle so that I stopped seeing things.”
“I would just be sitting there, seeing a random bee or bunny,” the recording artist recalled.
But luckily, Fergie said, she managed to kick the habit eventually, with the help of what the recording artist surmised must have been “guardian angels.”
“The drugs thing, it was a hell of a lot of fun…until it wasn’t. But you know what, I thank the day it happened to me. Because that’s my strength, my faith, my hope for something better,” she said.—ALLAN POLICARPIO
