Some months ago, we wrote about the unusual, idiosyncratic and “crazy” names that celebrities think up for their “show biz royalty” children.
The unique monikers said a lot about stars’ creativity, even in the field of nomenclature—and their inspired moves to make their kids stand out in the madding throng.
More recent “extreme” examples of one-of-a-kind names for star-blessed stellar offspring are paced by the second daughter of Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen, whom they’ve decreed should be called Elula Lottie Miriam (Elula is the Jewish word for August).
Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy have named their scion Bingham Hawn.
Not to be outdone, Gretchen Mol named her first child Ptolemy, and has followed up in similarly unexpected fashion by calling her youngest daughter Winter Harlow Morgan.
For her part, Alicia Silverstone has named her child Bear Blu, riding an incipient “coloring” trend that’s prompted John Travolta to call his daughter Ella Bleu, and Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke to name their son Levon Green!
And, what about Jamie Oliver, who’s “cartoonily” opted to call his latest newborn Buddy Bear Maurice?
It turns out that Oliver has a prodigious penchant for conjuring up unusual monikers for his progeny—the earlier members of whom go by the “yummy” names, Poppy Honey Rose, Daisy Boo Pamela—and Petal Blossom Rainbow!

Not about to be upstaged, Ever Carradine has named her kids Chaplin Haddow, Cade Calista Free and Kansas Marica Sorel.
But, the “lifetime” champions are still the oldies but golden goodies, Frank Zappa’s kids—who go by the spaced-out names, Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet Emuukah Rodan—and Diva Thin Muffin Pigeon!
Right up behind them are the Phoenix family of “nature-named” kids—River Jude, Summer Joy, Rain Joan of Arc, Libertad Mariposa and Joaquin (then Leaf, then back to Joaquin again) Phoenix!
Incidentally, River’s nephew, Atticus Indiana August, has extended his clan’s fetish for unusual names by naming his offspring Indigo, Orion, Rio, Everest, Scarlette and Jasmine!
As for John and Michelle Phillips, their children and grandchildren are colorfully called Bijou, Chynna, Aron, Jamison, Leon, Tamerlane, Vance and Alexander.
The Coppola clan’s creative choices in unique nomenclature include Kal-El, Cosima, Gian-Karla, Cayley, Natasha and Romy Mars.
Finally, legendary reggae musician Bob Marley’s 11 kids include Cedella, Ziggy, Rohan and Ki-Mani—while his grandchildren are variously called Judah Victoria, Justice Mystic, Zion David, Zipporah Zurl and Selah Louise!
