Coming soon: Chinese TV programs
In a sign of Manila’s increasingly close ties with Beijing, the government’s television network will soon be broadcasting TV programs from China.
Officials of China Central Television (CCTV), the largest state broadcaster in China, visited Malacañang on Thursday and signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with People’s Television (PTV) Channel 4.
The MOA provides for the rebroadcast of CCTV’s English programs from its China Global Television Network, a 24-hour English news channel.
In a statement, the Presidential Communications Operations Office said the culture, history and heritage of the Philippines and China “are intertwined.”
Initially, PTV 4 will rebroadcast one show, titled “Rediscovering China,” which will be aired twice a week—2:30 p.m. on Saturday and 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Ablan said. —PHILIP C. TUBEZA
