Guillermo del Toro’s ‘The Shape of Water’ leads 2018 Critics’ Choice Awards nominations

Mexican director Guillermo del Toro’s magical romance leads the nominations for the 23rd Critics’ Choice Awards with 14. “Dunkirk”, “The Post”, “Call Me by Your Name” and “Lady Bird” have eight nominations each.

After crowning “La La Land” in 2017, Guillermo del Toro’s “The Shape of Water” seems to have caught the eye of the Broadcast Film Critics Association ahead of this year’s Critics’ Choice Awards. The movie is this year’s big favorite with 14 nominations.

In the top category, for Best Picture, the movie goes up against “Dunkirk”, “The Post”, “Call Me By Your Name” and “Lady Bird” all of which have eight nominations. Also nominated for Best Picture are “The Florida Project”, “The Big Sick”, “Get Out”, “Darkest Hour” and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”.

In the television categories, anthology series “Feud” leads the way with six nominations, ahead of “Big Little Lies” and “Fargo” with five apiece.
