Neri Naig stands up for no-shame breastfeeding moms: ‘Totoong kwento ito ng mga nanay’

Nagzumba ako kaninang 8am-9am dito sa loob ng subdivision namin. May zumba kase every Monday at Wednesday. Na-late nga ako at humahabol si Miggy kaya sinama ko na lang sa zumba, nagpatulong na lang ako sa help namin na pakarga lang at aliwin si Miggy habang nag eexercise ako. Nung umuwi na kami, nagtry akong mag leg lifting para sana try ko paliitin ang puson ko, ayan ginawa ng anak ko, haha! Nag dede habang nag eexercise nanay niya. Masarap kase yung mat sa playroom ni Miggy kaya dito ako nageexercise, magulo lang room niya, haha! Sa lahat ng mag rereact about sa pagdede ko sa anak ko, totoong kwento eto ng mga nanay. Kahit nasa bahay ka o mall o kung saan man, kapag ang anak mo ay magutom tapos kahit bigyan mo ng dede na nakabote, kung gusto niyang maglatch sayo, yan lang ang gusyo niya. Iisipin mo pa ba ang sasabihin ng ibang tao? Yung makikitingin na lang at magrereact na bakit siya nagpapadede? Yung mga nanay lang ang makakaintindi ng mga ganito kong post. Saludo ako sa lahat ng mga nanay na uunahin ang pangangailangan ng anak kaysa sa kung ano ang sasabihin ng ibang tao na nakikitingin na lang, hehe! Next time may magsabi sayo na naooffend sila dahil nagpapakain ka ng anak, sabihin mo na lang na masyado kang nakafocus kase sa dede ko, try mo kayang tumingin sa iba. Tagal mo ng nakatingin eh, hehe!

As a doting mom, Neri Naig-Miranda makes sure to be there for her baby and give him what he needs, regardless of what people say about it.

On Instagram, the wife of Parokya Ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda shared a photo of herself doing leg lifts while her son Miggy latches on to her breast. She did this after attending a zumba session in her local subdivision.

She then had this to say about people criticizing her for breastfeeding in public, or even posting about it on social media: “Totoong kwento [ito] ng mga nanay.” (This is a true story about mothers.)

“Kahit nasa bahay ka man o mall o kung saan man, kapag ang anak mo ay magutom at kahit bigyan mo ng dede na nakabote, kung gusto niyang maglatch sayo, yan lang ang [gusto] niya,” she added. (Whether you are at home or at the mall or elsewhere, if your child is hungry, no matter if you give him bottled milk, if he wants to latch on to you, that is what he wants.)

Naig also noted that only mothers who understand the needs of their babies could understand her post. She saluted fellow moms who prioritize the needs of their babies, instead of worrying about what people would think.

“Next time may magsabi sayo na naooffend sila dahil nagpapakain ka ng anak, sabihin mo na lang na masyado kang nakafocus kase sa dede ko, try mo kayang tumingin sa iba. Tagal mo ng nakatingin eh, hehe!” Naig joked.

(Next time, if someone says they are offended because you are feeding your child, tell them that they focus too much on your breast, and they should instead try to look at other things. [Tell them] they’ve been staring at it for so long.)

Naig’s post got the approval of fans and followers for speaking about the reality of being shamed for breastfeeding in public.

One netizen even shared a story about breastfeeding her hungry baby while doing grocery shopping.

Also applauding Naig was actress and a mother herself, Marian Rivera. “Anak natin ang mahalaga higit sa lahat,” she stressed. (Our babies are the most important above anything else.)

And being the ever supportive husband, Miranda told his wife to shrug off the haters, even if they post biblical verses on their respective accounts but are in fact judgmental.

Naig regularly shares about her son on her Instagram page, and documents her adventures in motherhood. JB
