Season 8 of HBO’s “Game of Thrones” marks a bittersweet scenario for fans, as it will finally reveal the great fate of Westeros, as well as signal the end of one of television’s best shows of all time.

But according to one of the show’s beloved characters, fans have nothing to worry about as the cast and crew are working hard to come up with an extremely satisfying farewell season.

Speaking to Metro after reading the season 8 script, the “Onion Knight” himself, Liam Cunningham (who plays Davos Seaworth), shared how antsy he felt upon finally learning how the series will end.

“I was getting excited and nervous. I wanted to see what was going on. One of the main reasons was that as an actor my ambition for this was to get to the last season, and I’ve been waiting on the scripts to see if I can get to the last episodes,” the 56-year-old Irish actor said.

Without giving off spoilers, Cunningham summed up the whirlwind of emotions that fans will experience when the show finally airs next year or in 2019.

“So it was all new to us, and it is just, ‘Oohs,’ and, ‘Ahhs’. It is as it was in the past, it is just beautiful storytelling. Huge surprises. Wonderful stuff. I can safely say it will be a fantastic, fantastic finish to this incredible story,” he shared.

Although he is also saddened by the show’s ending, Cunningham remains proud of how far the show has come.

“The reason it is as big as it is and was is it is recognized by the audience that it is extraordinary storytelling and unique. At the end of this, we would be doing the story a disservice if we ran it out beyond its natural finish,” he said.

“It has always had a beginning, middle, and an end, and the guys said, ‘Look this story is going to take 70 hours of storytelling to get to the end of it.’ This meant from the get go it had a beginning, middle, and end. It still feels it is naturally coming to its end with the story that is there.”

Aside from Cunningham, former “Game of Thrones” cast member Jason Momoa also assured an action packed season 8, after visiting the cast and crew in Belfast.  Khristian Ibarrola /ra
