When are you going to have a baby? That’s the question usually asked of actress-television host Anne Curtis now that she is finally married to Erwan Heussaff.

“Oh my gosh…not yet! We just got married, and so first, we will enjoy married life,” Anne told reporters at a recent press conference mounted by the humanitarian organization Unicef, for which she’s a celebrity ambassador. “For the meantime, I will be looking after the children we have been helping through Unicef.”

At the same media event, Anne turned over to Unicef a check worth P7.4 million, which was raised via The Color Run Dream
—a fun run spearheaded by the actress.

Big difference

The funds will help children with disabilities—hearing, visual, learning and development—as well as those with mobility impairment.

“It’s heartening and I’m thankful to all those who participated in the event. We made a big difference through this run. It was really special because children were able to participate. It brings me so much joy!” she said. “We had fun and, at the same time, helped a lot of kids.”

She also announced that Unicef, in partnership with the Philippine General Hospital, will open the first of the four planned “one-stop shops” for children with disabilities.

The said facilities will offer comprehensive services, including diagnosis, counseling, therapy and provision of assistive devices.

Another advocacy

Aside from helping kids with disabilities, Anne—through Dream Machine, Unicef and the Department of Education—has been able to help renovate classrooms at the General Roxas Elementary School.

“It’s another advocacy. I really believe in education for children. I have so much faith and belief in how important it is,” she said.
