What’s cooking, Luis?

Luis Manzano

Guess who was spotted taking cooking lessons at the GalaStars Culinary in Pasig recently?

TV host Luis Manzano took a break from his showbizzy gigs to learn some holiday recipes from chef Ernest “Erns” Gala, who is the son of renowned culinary mentor Sylvia Reynoso-Gala.

A self-confessed foodie, Luis whipped up pot roast and chocolate chip oatmeal cookies, under the watchful eyes of chef Erns and his kitchen squad.

No, the crash course wasn’t in preparation for domestic bliss. Ever-enterprising Luis is eyeing possible business opportunities in the baked goods sector.

He enthused that “choco chip oatmeal cookies are all-time favorites.”

But what noche buena dish would he prepare for mom, Rep. Vilma Santos-Recto?

“If I could cook for my mom this Christmas, it would be salpicao pasta,” he quipped. Sounds yummy. —BAYANI SAN DIEGO JR.
