Actor and television host Luis Manzano had this to say to the bashers of his girlfriend, actress Jessy Mendiola: “Hanggang internet lang kayo.” (The internet is all you got.)
Mendiola has faced unparalleled bashing from netizens in her social media platforms, and the actress fired back multiple times to defend herself.
“Initially, it makes me feel bad. Pero ‘eto lang yan… To be honest, ang taong naghahanap ng mali makakahanap at makakahanap at gagawa ng paraan na makahanap ng mali,” Manzano said in a joint guesting with Mendiola on “The Tonight Show with Boy Abunda” on Monday.
(Initially, it makes me feel bad. But it’s just this: to be honest, a person who is looking for faults will not stop finding faults, and will continue finding ways to look for faults.)
Host Boy Abunda also raised the question asked by a netizen on why Mendiola was invited to the recent nuptials of Erwan Heusaff and Anne Curtis, where Manzano served as best man.
“I was really invited,” Mendiola answered. “Why would I go to a wedding na hindi ako invited?” (Why would I go to a wedding where I’m not invited?)
“Ayokong maging negative ‘yung pagpunta namin doon o lagyan ng issue. Kasal na nga siya. [It’s] a celebration of love of Anne and Erwan,” Mendiola added.
(I don’t want our presence to be negative, or for an issue to be made out of it. They were married. It’s a celebration of [the] love of Anne and Erwan.)
On the question of why he turned emotional at the wedding, Manzano explained, “As someone who has witnessed Anne through her every up and every down, through her lowest and her highest. She has a very colorful love story. It’s an open book in the industry. So finally I found someone na who will take genuine care of her.”
And what happens when the time comes that it would be the couple’s turn to settle down? To that question, Manzano turned to Mendiola: “Bibigyan kita ng magandang lahi.” (I will give you good genes.) JB
